Proceeds from AAFW-DC 2016 will go towards the Fashion For Success program initiative! This program will empower young girls and women through building their confidence and skill sets through fashion.

Fashion For Success – Program Initiative

Fashion For Success mission is to empower underprivileged women within the African diaspora in order to revolutionize their mindset through education, job training and skills building.

Fahsion For Success goal is to create a safe learning space through revamping schools and donate resources through funds raised at annual fashion shows, power conferences, auctions and other events. Fashion For Sucess will empower women through the development of vocational centers in various countries throughout Africa. Ultimately, our Goal is to influence the next generation of women and build women leaders.

African Arts and Fashion Week DC (AAFW-DC)

The African Arts and Fashion Week DC is driven by the African Arts Fash-ion Initiative which is a new platform to showcase African talent and an enormous opportunity for Africa to display their impressive proficiency in Fashion and Style.
The intent of this event is two-fold. It will first bring support and recogni-tion to the African emerging and established fashion designers as well as empowering the youth of Africa. AAFWDC objective is to introduce and share it’s rich culture and heritage globally.

The African Arts and Fashion Initiative (AAFI)

The African Arts and Fashion Initiative is a Non Governmental Organization which was launched on Sunday 4th August, 2013 at the Dorchester Hotel, UK. The Aim of the Initiative is to promote Africa on the rise, showcasing its rich cultural heritage and talent globally. Thereby, Creating opportunities for the empowerment of the African youth. The Emphasis is on driving an African Arts and Style Renaissance to mobilize, sensitize and most importantly, empower the array of talented designers and artists in Africa. AAFI promotes and organizes exhibitions and forums to showcase African Art and Antiques, African Fashion, African Music and all things Made in Africa. Quarterly journals and other materials are published to promote African Arts and Style.
